We brought Zuzu home in 2006, and what we didn't realize at the time was that we were about to spend the next 16 years with one of the most incredible dogs we would ever know.
Zuzu wasn't just a Rat Terrier—she was our Wonderdog.
She was fearless, energetic, and convinced that the backyard belonged entirely to her. Watching her in action was something to behold. She could spot a squirrel from across the yard and somehow seemed to defy gravity chasing it. Her determination, speed, and athleticism became the stuff of family legend.
But as amazing as she was, what made Zuzu special wasn't what she chased—it was the joy she brought to our lives every single day.
She was always there. Through busy years, family milestones, celebrations, and ordinary afternoons, Zuzu was part of it all. She greeted us at the door, kept watch over the house, and somehow made every day a little brighter. She had a huge personality packed into a small frame and a way of making everyone who met her smile.
Over the years, she gave us countless stories, countless laughs, and more memories than we can ever count. She was loyal, loving, endlessly entertaining, and completely irreplaceable.
When we lost Zuzu, we knew there would never be another dog quite like her. A few months later, when I started this, "Wonderdog" was the only name that made sense. It seemed fitting that a dog who left us with so many stories should still have her name attached to something we care about today. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die!
